People often talk about writing for a living. Although that may be an odd way to make a living, it's actually quite common.

Most creative people have many strengths but not everyone can be a professional writer.

Finding inspiration for a news story can be fun, but if you want to work full-time you need to develop some skills.

If you want to work from home, you'll probably have to develop your skills in the traditional sense. In the meantime, write more.

Game designer

People spend a lot of time on their smartphones, computers, and tablets. Most of these devices have some type of app.

Most of those apps have a little pixelated picture on them that features a smiling clown.

A lot of companies are making mobile games or apps that feature that silly little clown, like Angry Birds.

If you have a good imagination, you can make a good living designing games and apps for others.

Computer hardware engineer

your dad may be a computer hardware engineer, but nowadays you have to learn how to use a computer for your career.

A lot of those computer systems have bugs and bugs can really slow down your computer.

That's why hardware engineers are in high demand. They solve that issue, making sure your computer runs properly and efficiently.

If you've been working at a company for a long time, you may find that the problem is you. Take the time to learn a new skill and change your job.

Online marketer

you don't have to deal with customers face-to-face. You just have to spend more time on the internet, writing content, and updating social media pages.

You can make a lot of money online if you have the skills.

Online salespeople make a lot of money because they get paid per sale. You can make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year if you really love the work.

It's easy to work, but if you really want to make money online, you'll have to get out of your comfort zone and take some risks.

Bartender

Since bar/restaurant work requires lots of interaction with customers and co-workers, it's a good choice if you're looking for a job that requires you to be on your feet for long periods of time.

Many of the most common bartending jobs require you to be open to frequent travel, especially if you're a bartender in a restaurant.

Taxi driver

If you prefer being in the car rather than behind the bar, you can find taxi driving jobs available to you.

However, this type of driving job isn't necessarily ideal if you like to be on your feet all day.

You will also need to be able to deal with making a lot of phone calls, dealing with customers' complaints, and knowing when to call it quits.

Delivery driver

If you love to be on your feet and you don't mind driving a couple of hours a day, you can make plenty of money delivering packages to local stores or other businesses.

With Uber and other apps like it available to you, you can take your own hours and make your own schedule.

Health club attendant

Health clubs may have hourly positions available to you.

However, keep in mind that you may be asked to work on your feet all day.

It's often common for club attendants to wear exercise clothing and take part in a variety of activities such as running, yoga, aerobics, and circuit training.

This type of job requires a great deal of dedication to your customers, so be prepared to work hard if you want this job.

Bus driver

If you're looking for a job that's sure to make you tired after a long day, consider taking a bus or train to your destination rather than driving a car.

Most bus drivers are required to work up to 10 hours a day and are frequently asked to travel to other cities to pick up or drop off passengers.

Graphic designer (w/ thoughts from professional graphic designer Jae Ee)

Graphic design can be a great career for someone who wants to work on their own schedule. For the most part, all you really need to work in graphic design, aside from fundamental skills and a consistent client base, is a computer and an internet connection.

There are so many different graphic design jobs out there, and many of them can be completed by independent contractors or freelancers.

We even talked to an award-winning professional graphic designer, Jae Ee, about how this career shapes up for professionals who want to stay independent and work their own hours.

"Designers can manage their own workload unless hired full-time, and a lot of graphic design projects can be handled by an independent graphic designer. Moreover, we’re getting used to a remote working environment, which is advantageous to people who want to manage their own schedule."

Ee has achieved a great deal in graphic design, having work shown in publications such as It's Nice That, AIGA Eye on Design, Print Magazine, and Typography Seoul, and he was won several different awards from organizations and events like Weltformat International Poster Festival 3, Typojanchi 2019, 100 Films 100 Posters, AIGA 50 Books Winner, and the Type Directors Club.

He was also instrumental in the Meta Mascot project, which explores themes of mascot culture and cuteness via typeface.

On top of the flexible schedule, Ee appreciates graphic design for what the work represents:

"Graphic designers create something. Designers create something to communicate with the world."

McDonald's or Burger King cook

My New Job is Not What I Expected

This is another great job if you're looking for something flexible that requires you to be out in the sun all day.

You'll need to be able to work quickly and clean, and you'll have to take orders from customers.

This type of job can often lead to a high-level management position at your local McDonald's or Burger King if you're willing to put in the work.

Caregiver

If you are willing to make regular visits to elderly people at home, this can be a good choice for you.

The majority of nursing home and home health care jobs have somewhat regular hours, but a lot of them have shift work hours that are unpredictable.

This is a good choice if you're looking for something flexible and low stress, but you may not get paid for sick time and vacation.
