How Do You Find Your Passion

December 27, 2022

Finding your passion is not an easy thing to do. It will take work, it will change, and you may never find it. But if you are willing to put in the effort, then I believe you will find what you were looking for -- within yourself.

Many people who don’t know how to identify their passions simply can't manage it. They try putting all their energy into something that isn’t working and give up, or they keep going back and forth between jobs they like and ones they feel need their attention, making them feel unhappy.

If this sounds familiar to you, there is a way to figure out what you're passionate about. You can ask yourself two questions that have helped many people discover their talents — and things they now enjoy doing.

The first question is “What am I good at?” The second is "What makes me happy?" By thinking about these questions in depth, you can come up with some ideas.

Your answers to both of these questions cannot be obvious, nor should they be vague. When you've thought hard about each one, add notes to a new notebook section called "Talents & Hobbies."

Now, let's look more closely at each question.

Finding your passion is not like finding a new place to eat at, or a movie you want to watch. It is about investing in things that make you happy and using those tools to help you pursue other investments.

Finding your passion takes time because it does not happen overnight. It happens over months, even years. But once it has, you will know it!

You will know it because you will feel it every day as you go through the motions of living your life. You will feel it when you wake up in the morning and until you fall asleep at night.

It will show up in all areas of your life: work, family, friendships, self-care, you name it. And if it’s missing, it will be like a broken limb that doesn’t function properly.

We’ve written before about how creating more experiences into your life can help you find your passion, but there are some additional strategies that can boost your chances even more.

Here we’ll discuss five easy ways to increase your chance of discovering your passion.

Being passionate about something comes from spending time doing it, so don’t hesitate to try new things by adding them into your daily life. You can even make money out of your passion! There are many ways to find your passion.

Some people gain their passion through experiences, such as going to a concert or watching a sports event. Others get inspired by things they see or read, like a interesting book or article.

By being aware of what you enjoy, you will eventually come across it. It could be listening to music, reading, talking, or creating anything – from writing to painting to baking.

No matter how you found your current passion, the more you expose yourself to ideas and concepts related to it, the easier it will be to discover others with similar interests.

Having fun exploring different areas that match your passion is another way to find it. If you never tried surfing before, why not try it for one hour today? Or if you have always loved to bake, create your own recipe and try your hand at it.

Ask yourself what you like

Finding your passion is not about finding something that makes you feel good, it’s looking for things that make you feel bad. You know when someone feels passionate about something? They talk about it nonstop, they look forward to it, and they want to share it all over the place.

They are totally involved in it, and it shows. That's how you should be around everything that brings you joy.

It isn't just about doing the thing you love to do, it's loving the thing you have to do. If you need to do something else instead, go ahead and do that, but don't expect to feel happy about it.

Your job will still have to get done, and it'll probably get done very well, but you won't enjoy it as much.

Create a passion board

When you do what you love, your passions find you! Creating a passion board is an easy way to start exploring your passions. You can create it using Pinterest or any other website or app that allows you to organize pictures and information into boards.

By creating a board dedicated to each of your passions, you will be constantly exposed to ideas and concepts related to them. Plus, you get to look through all of your own pictures too!

You may also want to consider taking some time to read books about your top three priorities. These books should give you insights as to why these things matter to you and how to strengthen those relationships in yourself and others.

And lastly, try finding ways to add depth to your passion board by adding notes and linking between one element and another. For example, if your passion board includes studying music, make a note about where you would like to study music and what level you hope to reach.

This way, you are not just looking at music as a surface thing, but instead you are thinking about how you could take it deeper.

Find your passion job

We are spending our lives chasing what we want, and it is easy to get distracted by the never-ending stream of opportunities that exist in our daily life.

Finding your passion doesn’t happen overnight, but you can be sure there will come a time when you feel it – just like now.

When that moment comes, don’t fight it, believe in yourself and your talent, and go after the thing you have wanted for years. You will know it when you find it!

And remember, if you are not feeling passionate at the moment, then try something new. Take an unplanned break and when you return, you may find that you have found your passion back.

It's totally normal to feel nervous or uncomfortable while trying to figure out how to motivate yourself to pursue your dreams, but don't give up. It takes a lot of effort and work, but one day you'll look back and say 'I made my dream come true'.

Do a career survey

As we know, finding your passion is not an easy task. It will take you longer than expected to figure it out. That’s because most people don’t really know what their passion is.

Fortunately for us, there are some simple ways to find out. One of these strategies is to do a career survey. A career survey asks you questions about different careers and how much you would like to work in that field.

This can be done either via online tools or through testing sites where you can test yourself by taking exams. By doing this, you will get lots of information about various fields and whether or not they appeal to you.

By analyzing this data, you will be able to determine if this is a career you want to pursue or not. If so, great! You have found your passion! But if not, then you at least learned something new.

By giving yourself a challenge, you inspire yourself to learn more about the product and how to use it.

Connect with other passionate people

Finding your passion is not about picking something that you like to do or thinking of things that make you feel good. It’s not even necessarily spending time doing activities that you enjoy. Rather, it’s being engaged in experiences and conversations that leave you feeling energized and motivated.

The thing about passions is that they’re always changing. You can’t force them onto someone else nor can you get into them yourself by trying hard. They emerge from opportunities, experiences, and interactions with people more like waves than solid objects.

So how do you connect with those waves? By being open and receptive to new ideas and possibilities.
