Peel your fruit

The next step in making passion fruit juice is to peel the fruits! This can be tricky, as some recipes call for whole berries or pieces of pulp. You will want to make sure you remove all the skin so that nothing goes into your drink with lots of bitter taste.

The most common way to do this is using a spoon – just scrape off the top layer until there’s no white left behind. If needed, use a knife to get really close under the skin to ensure everything comes out.

After doing this, put the liquid into a bowl and push through the seeds if there are any.

Once you have your equipment prepared, it is time to make your passion fruit juice! First, wash the passion fruits well and then set them aside to dry. When they are dried, cut each one in half and scoop out the pulp using a spoon or knife. You will want to discard this now.

Next, add the seeds and peel of the lime to a bowl. Cover with water and blend together using a blender. This will remove some of the acidity of the lime!

Once everything is mixed into a liquid form, pour through a strainer lined with either paper towels or cheesecloth. The paper towels will work better as there isn’t much space for the cream to collect, while the cheesecloth can be used to gather all of the foam that may remain. Either way, once done, squeeze any excess moisture off of the pulp and put it in an airtight container.

Now, when you have enough pulp stored away, it is time to make the juice! To do so, place the lime seed and peel powder in a glass bottle or other vessel and fill up with filtered water.

Mix the two ingredients together in a pan and heat until the mixture comes to a boil. At this stage, reduce the temperature to a simmer and continue to cook for another five minutes.

At this point, take the pan containing the liquid off of the stove and let cool down.

Blending your juice

When making passion fruit juice, you will first need to de-seed the passion fruits. This can be done by slicing open each seed with either a knife or your hand until it pops.

Next, add the seeds to your blender along with one cup of water and blend on low for one minute. Once completed, pour the liquid into a glass container and mix in an additional half cup of sugar to taste.

The process above should be repeated twice more before drinking the mixture. After tasting it, we recommend letting it sit in your mouth for at least five minutes before swallowing!

If you are having trouble getting the whole bottle down, try mixing some honey into it.

Tips for making passion fruit juice

Most recipes call for adding water to your passion fruits and then squeezing them using either a hand-held blender or a juicer. However, you can also make passion fruit juice in the oven!

Preheat an oven proof glass bowl with an airtight lid along with boiling water to just under a boil. Remove the passion fruits from their paper skin and put into the prepared bowl. Cover and bake in the preheated oven for one hour.

After an hour, remove the cover and check if the pulp has dried out. If so, discard it and continue baking until it does. Once it is cool enough to handle, use a spoon to scoop away the peel and add it to the compost/recycling bin. Then pour the liquid into a sterilized bottle and refrigerate.

The alcohol content of this drink will reduce as it sits, so please do that before drinking.

Add it to your smoothie

One of my favorite ways to enjoy this fruit is in a drink or as an addition to other beverages. I like to call it passion fruit juice because of how beautiful that name is! It is very vibrant and rich in antioxidants and flavor.

You can mix it into water, tea, milk, or yogurt for some extra flavor. You can also add it to your breakfast or brunch menu by adding it into your yogurts or omelettes.

It will give your stomach a nice washout and boost of nutrients. Because it contains vitamin C, it helps keep your skin healthy and strong. Melons are full of lycopene, so eating more of that may help prevent cancer as well.

These drinks are great to have before or after a workout since they contain iron. That helps aid in muscle growth and recovery.

Delicious recipes

If you love making passion fruit juice, then there are some great recipes that can help you make it in a quicker or more efficient way. Some of these recipes even have you mix in your own flavorings like sugar, milk, or vanilla!

Making passion fruit puree is very easy. All you need to do is cut the pulp from the seeds and put them through a food processor or blender. When it’s done, you can drink the liquid or use it in other recipes.

There are several ways to prepare passion fruit juice depending on what type of drink you want to make. For example, if you want to make plain white water with no additions, just add some distilled water and stir until it is mixed properly.

Caramelized passion fruit contains raw sugar so those who are diabetic may wish to limit how much they drink. Just be sure to check the amount of sugar in each recipe before starting.

Juice your fruit

While making passion fruit juice is easier than it seems, there are still some steps you need to know! First, make sure to wash all of your equipment used to prepare the juice thoroughly. You can use either soap or water as a washing agent.

Next, pour the pulp and seeds into a bowl before adding the liquid to create an easy way to separate the seeds from the juice. When using fresh passion fruits, let the juices seep through your hand and then add only the pureed juice to your glass or container.

When preparing the juice for drinks or recipes, do not press the pulp first because this will also extract more liquid which we do not want. If needed, you can process the pulp later in a juicer.

Cooking tips

While most people use fresh passion fruits when making juice, you can also use dried ones! Simply soak one cup of dried passion fruit in 2 cups of liquid for one hour, then blend them together in a blender or food processor.

When finished, add some more sugar and taste to see if needed before serving. The process does not require cooking!

Another way to make sure your juice is free of sediment is to let it sit for about an hour after blending. Once again, there’s no need to heat this drink unless you want to!

And once everything has mixed properly, you can pour yourself a nice tall glass and enjoy your new flavor obsession.
