How To Find Your Purpose And Passion In Life

The Idea Trader is dedicated to spreading interesting ideas and current news to readers and interested parties. This blog contains opinions and insights for ideas and investment opportunities and is not intended as advice for investing.
Finding your passion is not an easy task at first, but it will be worth the effort! The best way to find your passion is by doing things you like to do and then thinking about why you like them.
It’s hard to enjoy something if you don’t know what makes you happy, so try engaging with these items and see how they make you feel.
You may also need to look beyond the obvious passions — creating arts and crafts or watching sports are great distractions, for example.
There are many different ways to identify your passions, from making observations of yourself and others to asking family members and friends who know you well.
Finding your passion isn’t just important because you'll feel happier when it's there, it can help you achieve other goals as well.
For instance, once you have found your passion, you can use it to pursue more education or career opportunities.
Make a wish list
The next step is to make a list of all the things you want out of your life. A good way to do this is by making a list of everything that makes you feel happy, from going down hard on an exercise routine to watching your favorite show or movie.
Then, add onto that list anything that would make you happier than those things. For example, if reading one book made you laugh for hours, then read that book! If listening to music gave you energy, then invest in some nice headphones. And if spending time with your friends brings you happiness, invite them over!
Whatever you add to your list should be things that matter to you, something that will leave you feeling relaxed and confident. They should also be low-cost ways to fulfill your desire, like investing in your favorite workout gear or buying new earbuds.
Now, take all these things together and see what kind of thing you can combine them into. You may find that your perfect passion is helping other people achieve their dreams. Or maybe creating art and showing off your skills is what inspires you.
By exploring different possibilities, you’ll know when you have found it.
Connect with people that inspire you
Finding your passion is not about finding the thing that makes you happy, it’s about finding the thing that inspires you to show happiness.
It’s being driven by something bigger than yourself. It’s investing time into things that matter to you, not because they are hard or expensive, but simply because they make you feel good when you do them.
People who love what they do have one common element – they are surrounded by lots of examples and reminders of how much they care about their chosen field.
They spend time studying and listening to conversations about their loved topic, look at materials and examples related to it, and invest in training or education on it.
This obsession comes from them feeling connected to what they know, and knowing that they can add more depth to the area.
It’s like having a little part of you that loves learning new things. People with this quality are also called ‘intellectualists’ or ‘bookworms’.
Figure out your weaknesses
We are all different, which is what makes us interesting! What one person finds passion doing may be totally unrelated to something you like that other people enjoy. This is why it’s important to identify your strengths and weaknesses.
Your strengths are things you are good at and they make up half of who you are. For example, I am very organized so I organize my room and life to keep it clean and tidy.
My friend is more creative so she uses color schemes for decorations and new ways to use empty space. She designed her bedroom based on this concept and it looks beautiful.
By being aware of your strengths, you can focus on developing them and improving upon them, while leaving the rest as opportunities to uncover your passions.
It’s also great motivation since you know everything else comes second after managing your own success. Take a look back at our article about how to develop personal leadership skills and see if anything applies to you.
Develop your strengths
A strong sense of purpose comes from developing your skills and interests, and finding what you are passionate about. You will know you have found it when you feel an intense desire to read more about it, and to spend time learning more about it.
It is like a light that shines inside you, guiding you throughout your life.
You may not find this passion at first, but if you look closely, you will always find it. It is never too late to develop these things, so don’t give up!
Other ways to discover your strength and potential career paths include talking to people who work in related fields, looking into educational programs related to those careers, and reading books and research papers about them.
The more you expose yourself to such ideas, the better you will understand the importance of strengths in life, and how to use them to fulfill your mission.
Connect with your passion
We are all given our life mission as we come into this world, but finding what that is can be tricky. Sometimes people get lucky and stumble upon it early on, like when they realize they want to make money or help other people become rich.
Other times, it takes years before someone finds their purpose. This can be due to many things — maybe they invest in lots of different areas and find that they enjoy some more than others, or maybe they don’t feel confident in their skills so they shelve their dreams for a while.
Whatever the case may be, once you have identified your passion, you need to figure out how to use these three tools to bring it to fruition.

The first tool to know about is something called “passion.” This word gets thrown around a lot, but what does it mean?
It means feeling excited or motivated by something for at least part of yourself. When you are passionate about something, you feel an emotional attachment to it and desire to spend time working on it.
Your passion could be for music, sports, fashion, socializing, talking, reading, or anything else really.
Do not fear failure
We all have failures, but some people seem to throw away opportunities that could lead to success because they are too afraid of failing.
A few failed attempts is totally normal. If you keep trying, you will find what you were looking for!
Many great things were started with someone who had never succeeded before. Even if your dreams do not come true immediately, don’t give up.
In fact, many successful people didn’t succeed their first time around. Oprah once said that she would spend her life talking about how to fail, but never doing it.
So why not try? You can’t get more advice than that!
We all have different definitions of what success means, so deciding what you want from your life may be difficult at times. That’s okay!
Keep exploring, ask others about what works for them, and learn as much as you can.
Get rid of things that hold you back
Let go of your old habits and experiences that no longer serve you. Stay away from situations and people that are not supporting to you or someone else.
You will have to make some changes, but don’t worry about it! You can do this!
By letting go of these things, you open up your life for new opportunities. You create space for something better to come along.
Something that was once broken can become what helps you achieve your dreams.
There is an excellent chance that everything you need to fulfill your personal mission has already been given to you. All you have to do is recognize them and get into place to enjoy them.
Be consistent
Consistency is one of the biggest factors in defining your personal life mission. You will not find yourself, nor will you earn success in life by trying random things.
You have to want it enough to keep seeking out those changes that make you feel happier.
And I’m talking about more than just changing what you eat or how you dress every now and then —I mean investing time into activities and practices that make you happy every day.
That can be doing something you like to do, reading a book you’re passionate about, listening to an album you love for the millionth time, exercising…the list goes on.
It’s important to pick small things to start with but build up as time passes, otherwise you won’t see much change.
But if you really want to achieve your dreams, you need to invest in bigger projects too. Things that require additional planning and effort but that give you lasting happiness.
These could be studying at a university, working full-time to support yourself, etc.
Whatever you choose to pursue, never lose sight of the reason why you started this journey in the first place.
Having passion and purpose in your life helps you to feel good about yourself. It gives you motivation and self-confidence, and makes you feel connected to other people.
It’s also a key factor when looking for employment or improving your career.
