Sometimes, passion can feel like an endless struggle! You may feel stuck in a position where you have to keep chasing after your dream or quitting because you just don’t see any results.
It’s so easy to get discouraged when you’re not moving forward fast enough, but staying in this place isn’t the best option for your long-term happiness.
If you’ve ever felt frustrated by someone else’s success then maybe it's time to take some lessons from their playbook.
By now, you've likely realized that being successful takes work. It means putting in effort every day, which can be hard at times.
But if you want to achieve your dreams, you'll need to go through these struggles. Only then will you know what it really takes to succeed.
In this article, I'd like to talk about two things that can hurt your passion for your job — timing and consistency.
I'll also share tips with you to help prevent these fires from happening in the first place. If you're struggling to stay motivated, read on! These are real solutions that worked for me.
This one is kind of obvious, right? But too many people forget how important this is.
You need to enjoy your career - and feel passionate about it – before you start working.
You have to love what you do before you actually do it.
Join a local sport team
Being involved in your community is an integral part of staying passionate about life. If you are not actively participating in activities that require you to be outside, then it is time to make changes.
Team sports like football or basketball can provide the perfect opportunity to join a new club or league. Or, if you are already a member of a team, there may be opportunities for leadership positions such as coach or manager.
By being part of the organization and leader structure, you will gain experience beyond just playing games!
Beyond this, most teams have at least one organizer who keeps track of t-shirts, water bottles, and other small items for the players. This person’s job is to keep everyone motivated and well supplied so never take advantage of this position!
You can also earn extra money by selling snacks, drinks, or jersey shirts from the team. In fact, many professional athletes retain their paid status by taking online surveys to reward themselves with gift cards or merchandise.
Find your passion job
Finding your passion is like finding a golden key that opens up infinite doors of opportunity. You will know you have found it when you feel passionate about what you are doing every day, and if you’re not then you should try something new.
When you find your passion, you'll never want to stop. It'll make other things in life seem boring and pointless because you'll enjoy what you do so much.
It's important to remember that while there may be times when you're tired or feeling stressed out, staying in this job isn't going to change unless you really desire to keep changing it. If you don't, look into different opportunities elsewhere.
And for anyone who thinks they can tell whether someone else's job is meaningful to them, ask yourself how engaged they were during the short time you met them. Were their eyes distant with exhaustion or did they appear excited about their work?
If they looked bored or frustrated, chances are they aren't enjoying their career very much.
Speak with a therapist
If you’re in an extremely passionate relationship, then it is important to understand why your significant other may feel like they need more space or sense that things are getting stale.
It can be difficult trying to connect when there isn’t much passion anymore. It feels like you're pulling away from each other instead of connecting as a couple.
This will only make matters worse so try to identify what is causing the lack of connection and address those issues.
If you think something is changing in your relationship, don't assume that your partner doesn’t feel the same way. Ask them- if they do, great! But if not, work on finding out what is missing and fix that.
Don’t compare yourself to each other - only place people in this situation is themselves. You both want the same thing and moving forward together takes work, but sometimes things just aren’t working and you have to acknowledge that.
Seek a mentor
As mentioned earlier, passion can easily burn out when you don’t keep up with it. The best way to prevent this is by having someone that you look up to as an artist or creator that you admire and who also enjoys what they do.
This person could be in your field (writer, singer, dancer, etc.) or outside of it (designer, musician, painter). They should inspire you and help you feel motivated and confident in your craft.
You can even find people online through sites like Instagram where others are sharing their art and life. Or, if you are already part of a group or team that functions similarly to how artists and creators work, then join those groups!
By being part of these communities, you will meet other people in the field that are at least close to where you want to take your career so you can learn from them. Plus, you get extra motivation and support which both matter.
Keep an open mind
It is very important to keep an open mind when it comes to passion and relationships. This could mean being willing to try out new things with your partner, trying new emotions or behaviors from them, and even talking about things that seem closed off at first.
There’s no need to feel like you have to stick around for uncomfortable reasons. If there are signs of danger in terms of passionate relationship health, then end things before anything bad happens.
Remember, if you ever feel like you can’t anymore, then you still love each other and should treat yourself to some time alone to reflect. Take breaks outside of relationship boundaries to avoid creating more internalized feelings of guilt.
Connect with friends
It’s easy to get distracted when you have things that you need to do, but it is also very common to lose passion for your work because of lack of communication.
As human beings we enjoy spending time together, so why not use this opportunity to talk about what you love, and to listen to others tell their stories?
By connecting with people who share your passions, you increase your own sense of engagement with the world. You will also find new passions in other areas as well!
And don’t forget, while talking about yourself can be fun, listening to others is an excellent way to learn more about themselves and about you.
Connect with your colleagues, classmates, or even neighbors to gain knowledge and inspiration. Don’t worry about making friends, just keep being friendly and you’ll see success.
Surround yourself with people who make you feel good and inspire you, and your inner-passion will thrive.
Between juggling work, family, and other commitments, you can become busy and stressed out. This stress can sometimes cause your passion to lose momentum.
When this happens, it is important to recognize that this is normal. It’s like when you're in love and you get some bad news, you have to take a break before you can re-evaluate your relationship.
You need time to think about what happened and whether or not you want to continue being together. By breaking up with one person, you'll realize there's someone new waiting for you.
Having a lot of things going on will do the same thing for you. Don't worry about everything else, but don’t get too attached either. Let yourself feel emotions, just make sure they are positive ones.
Yoga is a great way to keep your passion alive. Not only does it increase intimacy levels, it also helps reduce anxiety and depression. These qualities are key components to keeping your heart open.
Let’s look at some specific ways to prevent passion from burning out. First, practice mindfulness or meditation. Creating space in your life to stop and focus on what is present moment and down-to-earth can help you feel more calm and relaxed about who you are as a person and what you want out of life.
Mindfulness has been linked to improved emotional health and wellness. It can also strengthen self-esteem and sense of purpose. In fact, studies show that people who practiced mindfulness for just ten minutes per day were just as happy as those who spent twenty minutes doing something they enjoyed before coming back home.
There are many different types of meditation, so choose one that feels right to you. Some common forms include focused breathing, gratitude exercises, repeated phrases or sounds, and simple reflections. No matter which type you choose, just start small and slowly increase how long you spend each time you sit down to meditate.
You may find it helpful to keep a journal next to your bed so you can quickly write down thoughts and feelings while you sleep. This way, you will be writing early in the morning when most people have finished their night shifts, leaving you with extra time to process things.
