This week, we are going to talk about one of our favorite fruits — passion fruit! We will go over how to use it in drinks and snacks, what health benefits it has, and some recipes using it.
Passion fruit is most likely familiar to most people because it is commonly used when making desserts like piña coladas or kaffirylayerts. But aside from those beverages, there are many ways to include it into foods and drinks!
It can be added directly to food or mixed with another liquid before serving as an ingredient. You may also mix it into supplements or sprays to apply onto other products.
When dried down, passion fruit powder can be sprinkled onto foods or into nutritional shakes for more flavor and nutrition. It can even be mixed into oils for baking.
This article will focus only on using the juice of the fruit. There are already several videos online showing you different ways to make delicious drinks with it!
There are three reasons why passion fruit juice is so great. First, it adds a nice tangy taste that matches well with most things. Second, it contains important minerals suchas calciumand vitamin A. Third, it helps promote oral hygiene by acting as a natural antimicrobial agent.

It is not only delicious alone as a plain ingredient, but also works well when mixed into other foods or drinks. When buying passion fruits look for ones that have no signs of decay which indicate they have been stored properly.

Peel the passion fruit
The next step is to peel off the skin, just like you would with an ordinary citrus fruit. Make sure to cut all of the way through the flesh and shell to ensure there are no leftover bits attached to the pulp.
Once you have peeled it all away, add the passion fruits’ juice to your drink and mix well! This will change how taste of the drink, so be careful not to overdo it.

Blanch the fruit
Now that your fruits are in-place, it is time to prepare them. To do this, you will need to blanche or remove the skin of the passionfruit. If you have no idea what we are talking about, then don’t worry! You are just fine!
You can either use a microwave or stove top for this process. For the stove top method, put one half cup of water in a pan with enough space for the passionfruit to sit in liquid. Heat up the pan until the water begins to boil, then submerge the passionfruit in the water and let cook for two minutes.
Remove the passionfruit and apply pressure using a spoon or fork to push out all of the juice.
Make passion fruit juice
Now that you have your fresh passion fruits, place them in a bowl or container with water to cover. You can either use an immersion blender or use a regular blender. Either method is fine!
Once they are submerged, mix together using either hand motion or the paddle attachment of the blender. Add some sugar for flavor and drink this delicious liquid immediately.
If you would like it slightly thicker, you may need to add more passion fruit half way through mixing. It will thicken as it sits.
This recipe makes about one cup of juice depending on how much pulp you include. The amount of pulp needed depends on whether you prefer thinner or thicker drinks.
Make passion fruit butter
If you have leftover pulp from making passion fruit syrup, then adding it to your food or using it as an ingredient in other recipes is easy! To make passion fruit butter, add one tablespoon of dried passion fruit powder (or use pureed fresh passion fruits) and three tablespoons of coconut oil into your pan. Heat both ingredients together until melted and combine them properly.
Your new passion fruit butter can be spread onto toast, baked into a cookie or used to flavor drinks and desserts. It will taste delicious and tangy.
Use in salads

It will slightly tartify the taste of whatever you are adding it to. If you like more tangy flavors, then start with one passion fruit and increase that amount as needed until it tastes good to you.

In this article, we will be making our own passion fruit cream. We will mix that with some berries and coconut to create our fruit salad! If you don’t have any coconut milk, you can use plain cow’s milk yogurt instead.

What needs to be done to make passion fruit tart recipe
The first thing needed to make this recipe is fresh passion fruit. These will give off liquid as they ripen- about half a cup per pound. The liquid should be saved separately because it will reduce when the tart is finished baking.
Next, cream together sugar, coconut milk, and butter until light and fluffy. In a separate bowl whisk two eggs and add them into the mixture slowly while mixing well. Add vanilla and mix again.
Once all three ingredients are mixed, pour the dry mixture over the wet mixture and stir to combine. Spread the crust in a pan and put the compote filling on top. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
