When it comes to passing judgment about people, things you feel passionate about will always matter more than what they do not. Your passion for something can influence how others perceive you or even if they associate with you at all.
If you are constantly looking through rose-colored glasses then that will affect your perception of everything including yourself. You may also be tempted to use such strong emotions as a reason to justify poor behavior.
It is important to understand that whether other people agree or disagree with you does not really matter. What matters is how you feel about them and if this feeling is positive or negative.
Furthermore, most people who want to get close to you will try to find out what makes you happy and stay away from those things which make you unhappy.
What is passion?
According to online sources, passion is defined as “an intense feeling or emotion that you’re experiencing toward something.”
It also means to feel strong motivation towards something. When you have these feelings, you can’t help but work hard on getting things done related to your goal. You become motivated to do things you need to get done in order to achieve your goal.
Your goal doesn’t matter — it could be writing a book, losing weight, whatever – unless you are passionate about it!
And we all know how important it is to stay focused on our goals. If you don’t, what hope do you have of achieving them?
So, whether you're just starting out or you've been working on your dream for years, being more passionate about what you want will boost your confidence and motivate you to go after it.
Find your passion
Starting with something you are passionate about is one of the best ways to develop your career. Your passion can be in anything- it could be talking, dancing, knitting or sewing. It could be working out, reading books, doing crafts or painting.
It’s hard to get through life without experiencing some sort of passion. We spend our time living what we call “our lives” – we wake up every morning and choose to do things we believe are important.
If we were able to look beyond ourselves and our own self-interest, we would see that most people are quite unhappy. Most people are walking around with neutral faces, not really engaged in anything.
So how can we find our passion?
By thinking about it, and being honest with yourself, you will eventually figure out what makes you feel excited, focused and motivated. Once you have found this thing that you love, you can start to pursue it as a part-time job, a way to make money, or all three!
It is very important to understand that no matter which area of your life your passion lies in, it is still going to take over yoursiply for two reasons. First, because you wantto do it, and second, because it gives you an emotional reward.
When you are passionate about something, you will usually feel happier than when you are not.
Do not become a slave to your passion
We have all heard stories of people who spent their life in one field, going into debt with it, and then they were told “you’ve wasted your life!”
The thing about these stories is that even though they may sound dramatic, what they are telling you is not so different from other common sense ideas.
They are probably thinking to themselves: how can I spend my life doing something I love? It makes no sense!
And while it is true that we should be passionate about what we do, just like anything else, there is a limit to this.
You will burn out, and you will make sacrifices, but only because you decided to before.
It is all about the process
A lot of people get distracted by the quick results that they want to see, but failing to look into the longer term effects of your lifestyle or business practices is missing the whole point.
This can be true for anything from changing what you eat to starting an exercise routine or giving up something that you enjoy doing.
By investing time in things that matter to you, we will find that the passion comes later.
It’s not that those actions aren’t passionate; it’s just that when you eventually feel passionate about them, it’s because you have invested in the process to reach that state.
There are many ways to develop passion for the things in life that truly matter to you.
And no, this isn’t like saying ‘you should love yourself, so you do!’ – that kind of thinking gets buried very quickly.
But if you want to change something about how you live, then start looking at the reasons why you shouldn’t be living that way and brainstorming alternative solutions.
Follow your passion and the money will come
If you are not sure what career path to take, try exploring different areas of work or studying various fields.
Finding your passion is like finding a new favorite song – it can bring smiles to your face every time!
By now, most people have heard about the importance of having a life outside of work but many miss the crucial second part: how to know if this thing you want to do makes enough sense for you to pursue it as a career.
If you’re looking to retire early, thinking about what field you could potentially move into helps determine whether that’s actually possible. It also gives you an idea of which professions might be able to help you achieve that goal.
Take time to reflect
After you have determined your passion, it is important to take some time to really think about it. Are there any long-term effects of this passion? Is it sustainable? Does it pay well? If not, then maybe we should look at other opportunities that could be more suitable for us.
It’s also very important to consider how much time you want to invest in this career path. You don’t need a degree to work in your passion, but you will need enough training or education to get a higher paying job.
If you feel like you can’t afford to devote too many resources to your dream career, then perhaps looking into different passions might be the better option. Being passionate about something else may open up new possibilities for you.
Blogs are great way to explore these questions. Many blogs focus on helping people find their passion and supporting them through various stages of development.
Let’s look at some examples.
My friend is very passionate about swimming. She loves it, she invests time in it, and she becomes visibly animated when talking about it.
But you know what? The other night, while she was swimming, something happened. Something unexpected.
So instead of getting into her groove and diving in deeper, she left the pool early. And that was totally okay!
I understand why she made this decision. It wasn’t because she didn’t want to swim anymore or even because she thought someone else needed the space more than she did. It was just because she was not feeling motivated to swim that day.
And if we were able to see past all of the passion she has for swimming, I think we would agree that leaving the pool earlier was the right thing to do.
She got out of the water and lived to tell about it another day. Her body was too tired from spending hours immersed in liquid to stay awake and engaged with her favorite activity.
That’s how our bodies work. Sometimes they get tired and need rest before we can enjoy ourselves again. We must remember these times and allow ourselves to feel them so that we don’t inadvertently put extra pressure on ourselves to be passionate all the time.
It’s important to recognize your body and give it its deserved respect and attention.
Get rid of things that hold you back
Let go of your fear or limiting beliefs about something that doesn’t work at all.
Think about it- when you were a kid, you probably wanted to do certain things more than anything else. You may have even got into trouble for trying to do them!
But now as an adult, you don’t want to risk going through the motions of doing those things because you’re not really feeling them anymore.
You’ve made buying a new pair of shoes too big a goal so you never take steps towards getting them done. Or maybe you’re afraid to tell someone that you can’t afford their advice because you’d rather stay in your own comfortable rut than risk being rejected.
We’ve all been there before.
